Sporting resolved the semi-final against Oliveirense in the 3rd quarter, stifling the opposing attack, while Francisco Amarante put on a show, converting 15 of the team’s 29 points in the period. This is the fifth time, and the second consecutive time, that the two clubs have met in the final.
One season after FC Porto and Sporting contested the Portuguese Cup, where Porto prevailed (94-73), the two clubs meet again this Sunday (4:30 PM) in the final of the 77th edition of the trophy, scheduled for Albufeira.
After FC Porto secured their place in the final by defeating Galitos do Barreiro 81-97 (23-30, 19-23, 14-22, 25-22) in the first semi-final of the Final Four held in the mid-afternoon on Saturday, three hours later Sporting did the same by beating Oliveirense 97-77 (24-21, 22-22, 29-13, 22-21).
Benfica, eliminated in the round of 16 by SC Braga, remains the club with the most Cup wins, 23 in 38 finals.
