After being down 2-0 before 20 minutes of play, Paris Saint-Germain reacted and beat Monaco 3-2 at the Stade Louis II, this Tuesday (17), in the first leg of the play-off for the round of 16 of the Champions League, but lost their main striker, Ousmane Dembélé, who left injured.
Folarin Balogun gave Monaco a two-goal lead (1′ and 18′), Vitinha missed a penalty (22′), until Doué replaced the injured Dembélé and scored twice (29′ and 67′) in the match, in addition to also being decisive in Hakimi’s goal (41′).
The forward scored two goals (29th and 67th minutes) and assisted on the Moroccan Achraf Hakimi’s goal (41st minute), giving PSG the victory. PSG had lost the lead in the French League at the weekend to Lens and benefited from the sending off of Russian Aleksandr Golovin (48th minute) in Monaco for a foul on Vitinha.
The Champions League play-off continues on Wednesday with four more matches, with the second leg scheduled for February 24th and 25th.
The winners join the top eight teams from the league stage, namely Arsenal, who won all eight matches, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, world champions Chelsea, two-time Portuguese champions Sporting, who could face Benfica in the round of 16, and Manchester City.
