After Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, Arsenal ended their 22-year wait to be crowned Premier League champions.

Arsenal are English champions for the 14th time and for the first time since 2004, ending more than two decades of suffering for everyone connected with the North London club.

Mikel Arteta’s team led the table for most of the season, but after a stumble in April that coincidentally included defeats to Bournemouth and City, they fell behind Guardiola’s team on goal difference.

However, the Gunners, runners-up in each of the last three seasons, reacted with four consecutive league wins. Added to the points lost by City against Everton, this put the title back in their own hands.

The glory, however, belongs entirely to Arsenal, who will lift the trophy at Selhurst Park next Sunday and could still complete an impressive Premier League and Champions League double.
