PSG beat Lens in a direct confrontation on Wednesday and secured another French championship. The team managed by Luis Enrique secured the 2025/26 Ligue 1 title with one matchday to spare, amidst preparations for the Champions League final. It was the club’s fifth consecutive title.
The trophy extends PSG’s lead as the most successful club in the history of the French Championship, reaching 14 titles. Saint-Étienne, which hasn’t lifted the trophy since 1981, remains in second place on the list with 10 titles.
Founded in 1970, PSG had only won two of its 14 trophies before the administration of Qatar Sports Investments, a sports management fund based in Qatar that took over the club in June 2011. The two previous victories were in 1985/86 and 1993/94. The only two teams that have been able to break PSG’s hegemony in recent years were Monaco, in 2016/17, and Lille, in 2020/21.
