International media reports indicate that Xavi Hernández is the Moroccan federation’s favorite to take over as coach of the African national team for the 2026 World Cup.
Walid Regragui remains the coach, despite rumors denied by the federation of his alleged resignation after the defeat in the Africa Cup of Nations final played at home. However, Regragui’s departure is considered almost certain.
Xavi has not coached for a year and a half, since leaving Barcelona.
