Nigerian international footballer Ademola Lookman has transferred from Atalanta to Atlético Madrid, both clubs announced today, having signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Spanish side.
Lookman had represented Atalanta since 2022/23, after being recruited from English side Leicester. In three and a half seasons, he made 137 appearances and scored 55 goals for the Bergamo team, where he stood out as one of the squad’s key players, even scoring all three goals in the 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the 2023/24 Europa League final.
The winger was voted the best African player of 2024, following his Europa League victory with Atalanta and after helping Nigeria reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) that year, which they lost to Ivory Coast.
