Following their World Cup elimination, the French national team will have a new head coach for the upcoming cycle. Zinédine Zidane, one of the country’s greatest icons, is close to being officially named the new manager of *Les Bleus* after the third-place play-off.
Zidane has a verbal agreement with the French Football Federation (FFF). The announcement has been withheld out of respect for the current head coach, Didier Deschamps, who is concluding a 14-year tenure at the helm of the team.
A highly decorated manager during his time at Real Madrid, Zidane had been waiting for the opportunity to lead France since 2022. The French football legend turned down offers from European clubs to prioritize the national team.
As a player, Zidane won the 1998 World Cup with the French squad. He also reached the World Cup final in 2006.
